It looks like there’s going to be more 90’s and 00’s nostalgic goodness coming our way very soon. According to multiple sources familiar with the project, Activision is currently working on a Spyro the Dragon trilogy remaster.
For years now, people have prayed for a Spyro the Dragon reboot and after the unbelievable success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy – a remastering of the first 3 Crash Bandicoot games – it looked like chances of a Spyro reboot were getting ever closer. Could life be any greater?
A source has stated that the Spyro the Dragon trilogy will be announced in March 2018 and could be released in Q3 2018.
Much like the N. Sane Trilogy, the Spyro remaster will feature new assets; lighting, animations and cinematics as well as a remastered soundtrack. There will also be updates to the save features.
The success of the Crash Bandicoot remaster of the 3 original titles has inspired the same for Spyro the Dragon.
The remaster will include the 3 original games; Spyro the Dragon, Ripto’s Rage and Year of the Dragon. There are also some tantalising promises of new content that was cut from the original releases of those games.
The remaster will be announced for PS4 with PS4 Pro support sometime in March with rumours of September being the launch month which would be in line with the 20th anniversary of Spyro the Dragon.
The game is also said to have a 1-year exclusivity on the PS4 before being ported to other systems in 2019. This is also said about the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy as both games were originally PlayStation exclusive titles. Crash Bandicoot is said to join other platforms at some point in 2018.
Bless you, Bandicoot for proving how awesome these games from childhood were. Now let’s see if this little purple dragon can have the same effect. I know he will for sure!
