I’m sure we’ve all heard our fair share of ‘dad jokes’ over the years, some of you may even use them or come up with your own (shame on you). But sometimes, they can tickle your funny bone in just the right way to make it worthwhile.
Millenials seem to tell most of their jokes through a meme format, some are jokes and puns, others are downright bizarre with no real explanation but somehow they just are funny.
But what did the generations before us do? Did they have pre-internet memes? Was there such a way to share quick visual jokes?
One man believes that he may have found some memes from yesteryear when his 82-year-old father gave him a huge collection of printed jokes and ‘pre-internet memes’ in hard copy format. It turns out that you don’t need the internet to have fun.
BR Haines said that his dad had collected these random jokes over his 30+ years of work since the 1960s. Some of them are real historical gems, others crude, some still very relevant today.
Below, we have listed some of our favourite printed pre-internet memes from this octogenarian’s vast collection for you to enjoy.
Which one made you laugh the most? Have you got any pre-internet memes lying about? Send us a photo in the comment section below. At Thirsty, we love hearing all of your opinions. 📋
